Addis Ababa (Onkod Radio) — EthiopiaThe Halal Food and Tourism exhibition and forum, which is part of the Eid-to-Eid program, was officially opened in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa this week.
The chairperson of the Eid-to-Eid National Committee, H.E. Ambassador Birtukan Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, stated that the participants in the forum’s three-day activities will help identify the potential of the halal industry, the opportunities that the country needs to utilize the sector, and create connections with people from around the world.
Ambassador Birtukan Ayano recalled that a number of Ethiopians flocked to their country and engaged in economic activities and social engagements as a result of a number of events conducted in response to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s invitation to the country.
According to Dr. Mohamed Indiris, Deputy Director of the Ethiopian Diaspora Service and Coordinator of the Secretariat of the National Committee of the Eid-to-Eid program, Ethiopians from all over the world who have welcomed their country’s call will actually enable the bolstering of economic ties and the image-building process in diverse fields.
Members of the diplomatic community, representatives of international organizations, and senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture attended the forum.
The exhibition will be held at the Sheraton Hotel from August 2-4, 2014.
