Ethiopian Ambassador to Zimbabwe visits the Museum of African Liberation

Mogadishu (Onkod Radio) — The new Ethiopian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Ambassador Rashid Mohammed visited on Tuesday (26 July, 2022) the Museum of African Liberation on a familiarization tour.

The Museum of African Liberation which is an ambitious project by the emerging pan-African think tank Institute of African Knowledge (INSTAK) in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe is a site where Africa will be meeting at the Heritage Village for a truly liberated African experience.
Ambassador Rashid Mohammed also had opportunity to water the Ethiopian solidarity tree planted by his predecessor on 3 December 2020.
During the tour he was also taken to the Micro-Museum, the INSTAK Recording Studio, the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Exhibition Park and had an encounter with the zebra which has found a home at the Liberation City.
Added to his tour was the commercial zone which is where the Liberation Mall and Heritage Village will be established.
Ambassador Rashid later on met with the CEO of INSTAK Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi. Discussions centered on the importance of the Museum of African Liberation in documenting the collective history and heritage of Africa and its contribution to world civilization.
Ambassador Rashid commended the Government of Zimbabwe for taking this pertinent initiative and championing the idea of the Museum of African Liberation, adding the history and narrative of the liberation of Africa finds an organizational expression through the establishment of the Museum of African Liberation project.
Ambassador Rashid affirmed that Ethiopia is supportive of this the establishment of the Museum viewing it as a site of political, economic and cultural remembering of Africa, emphasizing that Ethiopia stands committed to collaborate with Zimbabwe in this regard.
Ambassador Rashid also pledged that Ethiopia is keen to ensure that the Ethiopian cuisine and cultural artefacts will be made available to visitors at the Heritage Village. He also expressed his thanks to the Government of Zimbabwe for dedicating a section to Ethiopia at the Museum to exhibit one of the great victories of Africa—the Adwa Victory.
Diplomats and Abel Yifru the Ethiopian Airlines Country Manager who accompanied Ambassador Rashid during the familiarization tour were present during his talks with CEO of INSTAK Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi.
